c.1. Fly-leaf inscribed in German (English translation: This folio Bible is given and assigned to the congregation in Whiteoakland commonly called Sebastian Reyer's Church, belonging to the Christian Reformed Denomination. God grant that every member of this congregation may long be able to hear and obey the wisdom of the Word of Life from this Book, to their complete health and holiness. May the good, tender, loving God grant this. Amen. So wishes and writes, J. Waldschmidt, V.D.M. September 8, 1752"Added note in English: To the members of the Goethean Literary Society. One hundred and eight years ago this Bible was presented to the German Reformed Congregation at Brickerville by the Revd. J. Waldschmidt, one of the first missionaries. This precious volume is dear to the Congregation, and wishing it to be preserved yet many years, they have authorized me, as their Pastor, to present it to you. I therefore present it to you, hoping that will ever heed its teachings and endeavor to follow its precepts. Yours respectfully, W.T. Gerhard, V.D.M. Lancaster, Febr. 8th, 1862"
